Rachel and Tani’s Intimate Rustic Jewish Wedding at HaAgam in Jerusalem
Description
Join Rachel and Tani as they share their journey of planning a heartfelt wedding in Israel against challenging circumstances.

Israel offers a unique and beautiful backdrop for a Jewish wedding, and for Rachel and Tani, it became the perfect setting for their love story. The couple, hailing from New York, chose the stunning HaAgam, located in the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens, to tie the knot. Rachel, a program director at a Jewish nonprofit, and Tani, a software engineer, initially envisioned a larger celebration. However, the realities post-October 7 leading to war affected their plans significantly, limiting their guest list and creating uncertainty right up to their wedding day.

Despite these challenges, Rachel emphasized that the experience ultimately taught them the importance of coming together as a couple and cherishing the loved ones who could attend. "We focused on each other and bringing our immediate families together, knowing our wedding would be special regardless," she reflected.

For photography, the couple enlisted the help of Herschel Gutman, a recommended vendor by Smashing The Glass. They were overjoyed with their wedding photos, especially the couple shots taken in the Old City at the end of the evening.

How They Met
Rachel, the bride: We met on Hinge during the summer of 2021, shortly after I moved from Toronto to NYC. Tani, originally American, made Aliyah to Israel in 2006, served in the IDF, and returned to the States in 2022.

A Memorable Location
The couple selected HaAgam for its natural beauty and vineyard-like ambiance, hoping for an intimate gathering of 150 close family and friends. The venue provided an excellent backdrop for both the ceremony and reception, enhancing the rustic yet elegant theme they desired.

Rustic Aesthetics
They opted for a light pink and white color palette that complemented the rustic and Italian feel they wanted. Their wedding was planned by Epic Events Israel, ensuring that each detail reflected their vision.

Unique Invitations
The invitations were crafted by Elise Hildebrand, the boyfriend of Rachel's sister, showcasing a stunning design that set the tone for the wedding festivities.

Bridal Preparations
For hair and makeup, Rachel chose Avital and Avital, who created a fun and friendly environment while preparing her for the big day, making her feel radiant and relaxed.

The Dress
Wearing a beautiful gown from Luce Sposa, found at Liza Ray, Rachel selected the Christiana design. Custom hemming and a delicate blush tone gave the dress a personalized touch, making Rachel feel every bit the princess on her wedding day.

Accessories and Attire
Rachel accessorized her look with a veil by Kadaleyah and shoes from Bella Belle. Her bridesmaids, who comprised her sister and sister-in-law, wore coordinating light pink dresses, each styled to their preference, contributing to the wedding's overall aesthetic.

Ceremonial Highlights
The ceremony was marked by personal touches, including Tani's brother reading their ketubah, adorned with stunning florals on the chuppah. A particularly emotional moment came as Rachel walked down the aisle to an original song by her father, adding a special connection to her childhood.

The ketubah was designed by Noa Attias and generously gifted by Rachel's parents, further signifying the love and support surrounding the union.

Musical Memories
Music played an essential role in their celebration, with Eliran Sade providing a lively mix of 70s and 80s hits combined with contemporary Israeli and American songs, ensuring everyone enjoyed the night.

Catering and Special Touches
The food, catered by the venue, was met with rave reviews from attendees, highlighting the culinary quality often expected in Israel's vibrant food scene. The cake and treats added a sweet touch to the celebratory atmosphere.

Registry and Planning Insights
For their wedding registry, the couple chose The Knot, allowing friends and family to contribute thoughtfully to their new life together.

Overcoming Challenges Together
As many nuptials did, Rachel and Tani's planning journey included navigating unforeseen challenges, from guest attendance issues due to the ongoing situation to last-minute decisions about the ceremony. "Despite everything, we learned to cherish the little moments and the people who were by our side," Rachel shared.

Honeymoon Bliss
Following their wedding, the couple enjoyed a romantic getaway to Maui, Hawaii, spending ten days soaking in the beauty of the islands and celebrating their new life together.

Wedding Tips for Future Couples
Rachel's advice to couples currently in planning mode: "Focus on what truly matters and lean on your loved ones, especially during challenging times. Your day is about celebrating love, not just the details." This sentiment resonates widely, reminding couples of the joy found in their shared journey.
